A bit of that September controversy and government hypocrisy.
I will start by saying that wearing a mask undeniably has some (although difficult to measure precisely) effect in preventing the spread of droplets. (Let's leave aside the fact that the majority of the population does not wear certified masks, but amateur-made cloth masks, where the effect is of course much lower...)
However, it is also an undeniable fact that only completely zero contact and absolute isolation between people or a special bio suit with the highest protection level BSL-4 will 100% prevent any infection.
But we can continue - the safest sex is of course no sex, the safest car ride is not to travel, and the best protection against death is not to be born at all...
So the question is what level is still appropriate and doesn't do more harm than good...
Petri dish
Wet rag in front of mouth HEALTHY A person's skin is the perfect breeding ground for microbes of all kinds. Dust, dirt, moist breath, your droplets and the droplets of hundreds of people you meet. All of this, nice and warm, right in front of your nose.
Add to that the difficulty of breathing and the voluntary weakening of one's own immunity - the ideal of all fungi, viruses and bacteria and a truly dangerous matter in long-term use.
Rather than wearing a mask, I would rather follow what we were taught in kindergarten – wash our hands, cover our mouths when we cough, and if I'm really sick, I'll stay home so I don't infect anyone. And if I really need to go somewhere when I'm sick, I'll wear a mask. VOLUNTARILY I'll take it. It's nothing new! But illogical and poorly explained prohibitions and orders only annoy and discourage people.
Covid is not Ebola
There's probably no point in comparing the flu and Covid - firstly, I'm not a doctor and secondly, it's still too early, and apart from dozens of conflicting articles and short-term studies, there is no truly well-founded and long-term comparison, and therefore no precisely determined level of danger.
It is impossible to calculate how many people died "only" with Covid in their bodies and how many actually to covid. But what is known and completely undeniable is how many people died in total in a given period. I'm not thinking about covid, but how many people die in our country every week - death simply cannot be ignored...

Do you see those high death rates in early 2017 and 2018? Remember when everything was closed, masks were worn, and everything was quarantined? No? That's strange... it was a regular flu epidemic and people were actually dying more. In the 10th week of 2018, there were 800 more people than the weekly average.
Normally, 300 people die every day in the Czech Republic. At the peak of a flu epidemic (for example, the one in 1995), as many as 500 people die - that is, as many as 200 from the flu in a single day.
Unlike this year's "Covid" spring, when the mortality rate was quite average.
Numbers
The flu epidemic, when canceling visits to hospitals and social facilities, or possibly wearing masks, is being considered, is estimated at 1,600-1,800 sick people per 100,000 inhabitants.
I will also add that, of course, there are no tests for the flu and everything is just an estimate based on how many people go to the doctors - so the morbidity in the population may be much higher in that case.
On the other hand, every single person is tested for Covid - and to date, in Prague, where Covid numbers are said to be HUGE and further measures in shopping centers are being considered, there are a full 53 sick people per 100,000 inhabitants...
(Update 9.9., when the government decided to immediately wear masks in all indoor spaces, there are "even" 132 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in Prague...)
I will add that most of them are completely free of any clinical symptoms – they just tested positive…
Bent law
The illegality of the entire government order to wear masks is described perfectly. here – plus these words were confirmed by a lawyer friend – a respected expert in constitutional law at the Faculty of Law.
In short, the minister cannot issue a regulation so broad that it is above the laws and even the Constitution. It is similar to the mayor of Horní-Dolní issuing a decree banning the wearing of caps valid throughout the entire territory of the republic.
Perhaps the illegality of this resolution will one day reach the courts...
Hypocrisy
Another hilarious argument against masks, and actually the reason for writing this article, is today's infection of the head hygienist. Basically, there are only two possible explanations.
Either the lady is a hypocrite and she and her surroundings do not respect her own regulations. That is - she, together with her colleagues (Babiš, of course, did not have contact with her and, moreover, the ceilings were high...), wears a mask only in front of the cameras, even though she ordered them in all state offices and institutions, or the explanation is completely prosaic - and the masks around the hygienist did not protect the hygienist anyway - they simply do not work - and it is pointless to wear them.
We cannot forget the government's blabbering about wearing masks only when the red light on the camera is on.
And as the final straw, add the complete distrust of the government and its unconceptual decisions, which it changes only according to the current mood of the population to please itself.
Someone might argue that there are elderly, oncological, high-risk and polymorbid patients and they need to be protected. Sure, but they have always been here and I don't realize that protecting their health against the thousands of viruses and bacteria that lurk everywhere would ever be solved by isolation and mandatory masks for the entire population.
On the contrary, the government should help them and actively protect them - because they are the ones who can fill hospitals one day.
Why actually?
What are governments waiting for to happen? That a miraculous and safe vaccine for the mutating virus will soon appear?
I don't believe it too much.
Or is it more likely that Covid will be another common respiratory disease and join dozens of other viruses? And will we have to wear masks forever...?
I think it will happen exactly like with migrants and terrorists – neither will disappear, only the media will stop caring about the problem and masks will gradually disappear and thanks to the media, the „problem“ itself. We just have to wait until „someone“ decides that it is time to stop fooling around, or the first economies will start to collapse under lockdowns.
The only protection is simply not to be a herd, not to be scared, manipulated, not to be fooled, to take responsibility for yourself, to take care of your own health, to toughen yourself and to have a healthy spirit. Because viruses were here before us and will be here long after us.
