I often read in discussions – usually with the addition of a selfish beast – but is that really the case?
People live in fear, suggested to them by the government and the media, that we have an epidemic of a deadly disease and we NEED to act accordingly, otherwise we will all die, or at best the healthcare system will collapse.
And as I was amused to discover today, the rhetoric of many lockdown supporters has slowly changed – and they are actually warning against the same thing that I and many others have been saying since spring – just for a different reason. Mr. Flegr just wrote that the economic impacts will be terrible – because we HAVE to be closed, thanks to those irresponsible… WE HAVE TO – but that discourse of thinking is terrible…
But we WE DON'T HAVE TO and especially here WE DON'T HAVE deadly epidemic! Objectively, we only have a few thousand hospitalized patients per 10 million people (even though our robust healthcare system is prepared for tens of thousands, which it normally handles even during large flu epidemics) and we have tons of healthy people who are being driven to unnecessary tests for a disease that behaves similarly to the flu and has a mortality rate of 0.3% and for people under 70 even only 0.05%.

These are the facts – everything else is hysteria and government-fueled fear of a janky PSA that can never even drop to level 1.
Many doctors are clear - it's long since stopped being about medicine and science - but only about fear, politics and business.
But let's come back to earth for a moment. According to the government, we are supposed to trust the experts. But even experts can have different opinions – it's quite normal – so under normal circumstances there should be an academic discussion. But there isn't! It has been stopped and trampled at the very beginning.
I wonder who could be a real expert on Covid. What about, for example, university professor and practitioner of epidemiology and vaccinology MUDr. Jiří Beran, who has been in the field for over thirty years, or MUDr Martin Balík – head of the department that takes care of the most seriously Covid patients in our country, or, for example, MUDr. Hana Zelená, who heads the virology department in Ostrava, which, incidentally, is the only one in the country that actually studies the Covid virus? Aren't they the experts who actually come into contact with Covid and should know the most about it?
And we have over 157 other doctors and 123 nurses (many of them Covid AROs) who are not afraid to speak out and think the same as me – something completely different than the government. Namely, that we need to stop scaring people, start living normally and return the country to normal. But according to the government, whose chairman has been caught lying countless times and is under investigation for a number of frauds, its own influential media outlets and companies that are playing into the cards, all of these experts are "conspirators, deniers and dilettantes" and we should rather believe a military epidemiologist with his own business interests, a bunch of data analysts with spreadsheets, an "expert" from Oxford, an immunologist and a few other "experts" - they want to shut everything down, destroy our economy, put future generations in debt and vaccinate everyone across the board, without indication.
By the way, there is not a single doctor or epidemiologist in the team that created the PSA.
It is also good to realize that neither a doctor nor a scientist is just an infallible white coat – they are, above all, ordinary people with their own interests and lives. Just like in the population, there are good and smart specialists, fighters for the truth, scoundrels, heartthrobs, but also fools, profiteers, scoundrels, pigs and careerists, or maybe just people who are simply afraid to speak out. Because everyone who has spoken out is an irresponsible denier and a conspirator.
Why?
Because someone from the government, who suits it, simply said it and the crowd cheers and likes to repeat it enthusiastically and mock the world's capacities! It's exactly the same as under the previous regime, when the party labeled enemies of the people, subversives of the republic and kulaks - professors and intelligentsia ended up in boiler rooms for the truth and the mob ruled.
But in fact, the government may be right about one thing – perhaps it's finally time to return to reality and really start trusting the experts...
