Media and Covid II

I would say that it's exactly the same as anyone is qualified to scare people and throw around exponentials today - nowadays, all you need to do is have something to do with mathematics, Excel, or the word "data scientist" and possibly "analyst".

What's actually weird about it is that it doesn't matter at all that I'm an artist, but the problem is that my opinion isn't exactly mainstream, or my questions and data aren't exactly the ones that need to be presented.

Unfortunately, I fear that something similar is happening here, as happened in Germany during the refugee crisis, when it was necessary to provide information in a specially adapted way.

If there was a crime committed by a refugee, it was completely unthinkable to state that the violence was committed by, for example, a Moroccan, or even to use the word "refugee" itself - a crime had simply occurred and the police were investigating it, and the victims were not allowed to speak publicly about it.

I don't know if a government agency was working on this, or if the media did it themselves under the influence of a kind of self-censorship of fear of the leadership, when they themselves had an idea of how to "best" present the information.

If I posted a video of myself dying at home with Covid, it would be perfectly fine and an acceptable truth - but if I, like that same person, posted a video saying I survived Covid and it was fun and I had no symptoms, I would already be the target of attacks as a "derogator", or I would be labeled an amateur and a layman who can hardly assess his own condition.

And that's what I think is the point here, and that's the main stumbling block where the media fails miserably.

Not only are they not objective and have completely lost the ability to think critically and ask the right questions – they have gone even further to the opposite extreme.

The disease, which the vast majority survives with either COMPLETELY no symptoms or only with MINIMAL symptoms, is reported in a manner that literally reaches the fatality of plagues. More than 99% survivors are presented, on the contrary, as a 99% chance of wiping out the entire country and overwhelming the health system, and the one percent that remains are downplayers, anti-maskers and laypeople who will be responsible for the tens of thousands of deaths instead of the government.

To combat "incorrect" opinions, Minister Prymula even uses our money to pay a PR agency that puts things "in the right perspective".

A friend of mine wrote to me quite seriously some time ago, "You are not qualified to interpret the graph any differently than the one presented to you by the experts." and that's when I really said, "Be careful! Is this what a university-educated person thinks? It's been there before, the white coat is always right, and there is no doubt about it. This is really just a small step towards totalitarianism and one official opinion.

Have you seen the series Chernobyl? (By the way, a brilliant work for quarantine time - I highly recommend it). Do you know what led to the disaster?
One bad decision after another, but covered up by the arrogance of power, one's own ego, stupidity, politics, one's own careerism and simple male vanity to admit a mistake. Add to that the immense fear of subordinates to stand up to an authority that simply cannot be resisted!
Doesn't that remind you of something?
More and more sand is poured into the gears. Then all it takes is a little and the power plant explodes.

I'm just asking, is it really the artists' fault that people go to them instead of the government and scientists and out of desperation trust them rather than spreading lies?
