What is important, in my opinion, is why people who vehemently do not want to change their attitude actually do so. The author completely ignores this, and in my opinion it is crucial.

In short, it can be said that, according to experiments, lying is most vehemently defended not by those who get paid better for lying, but by those who get paid less.
It's completely logical - those who have earned their way through tests, masks, or their own academic career actually have it "on their plate" and it's not a problem for them to change their attitude later, when it's convenient.
But those who defended everything out of their own stupidity would have to admit that stupidity, and that is a huge blow to the ego, and few are capable of that...
